The Manual
In 1911, the Cordova Exploration Company, a British owned mining corporation, sold their interest in the Belmont Mine to Cordova Mines Limited, a new company set up to rework the mine.
The original publication belongs to Ron Barrons. We are extremely grateful to Ron who was gracious enough to take the time and trouble to scan and email almost the entire contents. Thank you so much Ron for sharing this wonderful and rare piece of work with everyone.
Shortly after the purchase Cordova Gold Mines Limited produced a small publication – kind of a current day IPO. It expressed their interest in acquiring the entire operation.
The booklet is extremely rich in detail, providing a description of the townsite and details of all available road and rail transportation. Technical details include engineering reports, drawings, profit projections, planned improvements and upgrades as well. An added bonus are several dozen photos of the town, mines and surrounding worker’s village.
We’ve reproduced the content as it was when first published, including any and all grammatical and spelling errors. One other change involved converting the distances from miles to kilometres, since Canada hasn’t used miles in decades.
The content was far too extensive to include in our regular ghost towns format. It deserved a home of its own. Owing to the size of the scans, it was not possible to simply present the manual in .pdf form. Therefore, we’ve built a mini site around the details and photographs.
